- YHVH, which is pronounced as YaHVaH
or YaHWaH. In addition we will also use our Heavenly Father’s
attribute/title, which is Elohim rather than “God,” which
sadly is the name of a pagan god. In addition we also love to use the actual
and real Name of our beloved Messiah which is
- Yahushua or Yahshua in short, for
this is our Saviours original Hebrew Name as given to Him at birth in Lukas
- Luke 1:31. This was the only Name ever used when He was on the earth by His
family, disciples and His followers OVER THE centuries, even until today!
However, it was changed to a foreign name by the founder of the new
“pagan church of
When we read and study the blessed
Scriptures, the Word of YHVH Elohim as a believer in Yahushua the Messiah, we
should keep the following three steps always in mind for they are a valuable
guide and it will certainly provide us with guidance and illuminate the sheer
beauty and the fullness of YHVH’s most blessed Word.
1. Who was YHVH Elohim,
blessed be His Sanctified Name, speaking to?
2. When was it said?
3. How was His Word
understood at the time it was spoken/given?
I do believe that these
three points are most relevant to our understanding of 1. What the Almighty
is saying at the time – 2. As well as what it means to us today - and 3.
Especially to you and me right now!
The Feast of Shavout - Weeks
Please note:
Sadly the churches tend to call this feast “pentecost,” which is a
Greek word but this is a Hebrew feast, not a Greek one, and like all the other
feasts it should retain its true relationship to what the Almighty gave us and
Yahushua fulfilled! Thus, we strongly discourage the use of that Greek, term as
we should either use, “The Feast of Weeks” or the original
Hebrew, “Shavout.”
The time between “Reshit Katzir” or the Feast of “Firstfruits of the Harvest” and Shavout.
“And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed. Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to YHVH.” Vayikra - Lev 23:15-16.
Fifty days after “Firstfruits” we
come to the next harvest feast, which is “Shavout.” This Feast is
also mentioned in Shemos – Exodus 34:22.
“And perform the Festival of Weeks for yourself, of the first-fruits of wheat harvest, and the Festival of Ingathering at the turn of the year.” Shemos - Exodus 34:22.
Thus forty-nine-days, plus one day, or seven
weeks of days are carefully counted between the second day of
“HaMazot” - “Unleavened Bread” being “Reshit
Katzir” – “Firstfruits” and “Shavout” the
“Feast of Weeks.” This period in between is called in
The Children of Israel were very much an
agricultural people and they depended on their sustenance on the produce of the
land. Thus, Shavout was a Feast of thanks unto YaHVaH Elohim, as
Beloved, as you have already gathered, each of the Seven Feasts of Elohim has a rich prophetic meaning and Shavout prophetically represents YaHVaH’s outpouring of blessings to the faithful in Him!
I am sure that we are all well aware about
chapter two of the book of Acts and how it describes how it was on this
very blessed Feast day that the Apostle Shime’on (called Peter) spoke
with a mighty authority and he was filled with the Sanctified (Holy) Spirit of
YaHVaH Elohim and present at the gathering there were over three thousand
Hebrews who had come from many nations to attend the Feast In Jerusalem. Of
course, having come from many different countries they would all have spoken
different languages, yet as they listened to Shime’on - Peter they
miraculously heard the message, as the Word so clearly states, in “their
own language.” Of course, Shime’on spoke to them in Hebrew for
that was the custom when sharing the Word of Elohim, as was and still is done
in all Synagogues then and to this very day. But through the power of the Ruach
HaKodesh, the Sanctified (Holy) Spirit, they heard it “in their (own)
language”, which was one of the many blessed miracles that occurred on
that day.
First there was the “rushing wind and the accompanying noise,” and there were the “flames above the heads over the Apostles” and then the miracle was that the Almighty translated the words He spoken to all who were present from all those many countries as a special sign to them and those around them!
Remember, the Apostles were filled with the
Sanctified Spirit and what is written in the Word is very clear, for they did
not actually “speak in tongues,” but that the hearers miraculously
heard and understood what was being said in Hebrew in their own national
language! What a great and miraculous sign from the Almighty indeed!
It needs to be noted that this occasion is not
related, nor the same to what is spoken of in the Word in relation to
“tongues,” for it is entirely a different situation and the Word
makes that quite clear!
Prophetically, this Feast is all about
YaHVaH’s blessing to all who would believe in YaHVaH as the one true
Elohim, the Creator and accept Yahushua as THE One and true Messiah and
YaHVaH’s anointed One!
In faith Messianic
Hebrews - and those who were in the past Gentiles before they believed,
who together became equal and ONE in the body and ONE in faith!
“Therefore remember that you were
once Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by those who are
called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands, that at that time you were
without Messiah, being aliens from the
“Shavout” means
“Weeks,” therefore its name, “Feast of Weeks.” Shavout
occurs fifty days or a week of weeks (7 X 7 = 49 + 1 = 50), after
“Firstfruits,” (Vayikra - Leviticus 2 3:15 - Acts 2:1).
Fifty - Scripturally represents liberty,
freedom, and deliverance. This may be ascertained by the fact
that the 50th.year is called “the
year of Jubilee.” The Jubilee year represents a time of release,
liberty, and freedom. “*Slaves” were permitted to leave if desired
and those who had debts - all debts were cancelled. This liberty was proclaimed
throughout the land by the sound of the Jubilee Shofar (Vayikra - Leviticus
25:8-17).
*It is important to note that “slaves” in Hebrew
is “ebed” and this signifies those who are in service by
free will and not enforced slaves for that was forbidden according to the Law!
Sadly, that was the situation with
It has come down from ancient Hebraic tradition that on the day that is now the Feast of “Shavout” the Two Tablets containing the 10 Words, or 10 Commandments were given to Moshe. But, the Children of Israel had seen the mountain covered with smoke and “fire,” and they sounded the Shofar, the ram’s horn trumpets! Moshe – Moses came down and it was also the day of his and Elohim’s great anger. But I will come to this shortly!
Shavout, also points to the conclusion of
prophecies relating to YaHVaH’s plan of salvation, thus revealed a new
beginning for those who believe in the Messiah! However, at the same time, Shavout
also pointed to the suffering that the Children of Israel would suffer, as
Israel were later scattered to the four-corners of the earth forty years after
Messiah in 69 AD, when Jerusalem and the Temple was destroyed by the Satanic
forces of Rome. We should understand that the evils of Rome commenced in 69 AD,
but their Satanic influence is having an evil effect on almost every christian
in the world! What does this mean to you? It is vital that you come to know who
the Messiah really is, is it Jesus, or Yahushua. Does it really matter you
might ask? Beloved, The Almighty and Messiah has stated over and over again
throughout the Scriptures that it does, for example … “Ask it in My
Name and it shall be done.” – “My Name” He was given
the most blessed Name of Yahushua, the very same name as Joshua who took over
the leadership from Moshe. You can check the Strongs Concordance and you will
discover that it states very clearly that Joshua’s name is really
Yahushua!
I suggest that when you have finished this study
that you read the study:
Beloved, it is important to understand that
there is a long gap from “Shavout” to the next feast, for this
represents the long duration Israel would be in dispersion before her secular
(partial) restoration to Zion (Jerusalem) in 1967 not in 1948 for Jerusalem was
not liberated until then! But sadly I have to be very honest, the Sate of
Israel is very much a secular and a wayward State and certainly not the spiritual
Israel that YaHVaH Elohim desires her to be!
In the year of Messiah on the Feast of Shavout
as recorded in Acts 2:1-4, there were three thousand Hebrew men that accepted
their Messiah and they repented of their sins having heard Shime’on
declare the Gospel of Israel’s Messiah. Thus, as it was a day of great
joy, you may also recall I wrote earlier that “it was also the day of
Elohim’s great anger.” What was the reason for this?
On this very same day, at the foot of Mt Sinai sadly three thousand Israelites perished, for they had worshipped the golden calf they refused to repent, thus Elohim was forced to punish them, according to His Word. Therefore, we have seen that on this very same day at Mt Sinai sadly 3,000 Israelites died in sin, whilst on the same day in 69 AD, 3,000 Israelites were saved by the shed Blood of the Lamb of YaHVaH Elohim!
Beloved, the feasts are simply marvellous and
we can learn so much from it!
“And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed. Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath. Then you shall offer a new grain offering to YHVH. You shall bring from your dwellings two wave loaves of two-tenths of an ephah. They shall be of fine flour; they shall be baked with leaven. They are the Firstfruits to YHVH.” Vayikra – Leviticus 23:14-17.
Recap: On the
day following “Unleavened Bread,” the cereal harvest began. The
first of the grain to ripen that had been sown in winter was barley. An Omer is
a half-gallon of barley. The sheaf was reverently cut and the barley removed,
filling a bowl. It was then taken to the Temple and offered to YaHVaH Elohim,
blessed be His Sanctified Name. The counting of the Omer began at the feasts of
“Reshit Katzir” or “Firstfruits,” which always takes
place on Nisan 16. The last cereal to ripen was wheat. The firstfruits from
this harvest had to be offered seven weeks, 50 days later at Shavout.
Meaning: Israel
being redeemed at Passover received YaHVaH’s Torah seven weeks later at
Mt Sinai. Seven weeks after Yahushua’s death and resurrection, YaHVaH
Elohim sent His “comforter,” His “Ruach - Spirit,”
which would give His faithful discernment. According to the Word, the Spirit of
YaHVaH would always remain, and fill those who would remain faithful in Him for
the truth is in them, and as long as they remain in faith and in His
commandments, their bodies will be a temple where the Ruach, the Spirit of
Elohim resides. HalleluYAH.
We read in Vayikra - Leviticus 23:17 that
“two loaves” had to be used for a wave offering on Shavout –
Feast of Weeks. The question is why two loaves and not just one, and why did
they have to contain “chometz” being “leaven”?
1…
Prophetically, the “two loaves” represents Elohim
gathering out from Israel and the Gentiles as
“a people unto Himself.”
For the faithful in Yahushua, made up of both Hebrews and those who were Gentiles are no longer counted as such, but as “ONE” people in Messiah, and “ONE” in the Kingdom of Elohim! The two loaves also represent the provision of a double portion.
Also, the Hebrews and Gentiles in Messiah are
counted as being ONE, for the two loaves were made from the one dough,
think also about the “two witnesses,” etc, as there are always
“two,” again numbers in the Word are so important!
2. Why did the
bread have to be baked with leaven?
Prophetically the truth is this; the believers
are not as yet free from ALL leaven (sin) in their lives! And this
is true, for no we are not as yet completely free from all sin.
The presence of YaHVaH’s Spirit does not
expel or alter sin, although through His love and grace its power is no longer
dominant, and it is restrained, but not totally eradicated. As yet, none of us
are fit to be placed on the altar for divine acceptance, for only Yahushua
our Saviour was completely without spot and blemish when He was placed on that
“tree” (stake)! Only when Messiah returns to set up the
Kingdom, will we be changed in “the twinkling of the eye,” and only
then will we be without any leaven forever! As we have discovered from the
Word, the Feasts of YaHVaH Elohim contain a wonderful prophetic picture of
…
1. The 1st.event of Messiah Yahushua on the earth.
2. His perfect sacrifice.
3. His resurrection.
4. The presence of YaHVaH’s Sanctified Spirit in the life of the “Little Flock” of the Faithfull in Yahushua THE Messiah! I do not include the fake spirit that is found in so many of those churches these days, for they celebrate those evil pagan festivals, which Elohim hates with a perfect hatred and He has given His clear judgement upon them in His Word, for He mentions that tree, which is used in December, as well as the egg, rabbits and other items related to the festivals that bear the names of pagan gods each named in the Word as evil and pagan. Yet the church will celebrate them with great joy, for they have somehow “christianised” them, and that is supposed to have made it right with their “god.” Sorry, it NOT with YaHVaH Elohim and Yahushua THE Messiah!
YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name,
has fulfilled the four feasts I have covered so far as described in the points
above.
Finally beloved, it needs to be fully
understood, that no one can celebrate Shavout without having first experienced
and accepted Pesach, for it is trough the Lamb without spot and blemish, His
sacrifice, and through our faith and action that has brought us out of Egypt
(sin). In faith, we will be part of the firstfruits (resurrection) and like the
two loaves; we will also receive a double portion!
“Those who accepted his (Shime’on - Peter) message were immersed (*Mikvah). Three thousand were added to their number that day. They were attentive to the disciple’s teachings, coming together to eat, and prayer. Everyone was filled with amazement, as wonders and miraculous signs were done through the disciples. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold their possessions and goods and gave to those who had a need. Every day they continued to meet together in the courts of the Temple. They broke bread (this means to eat and have food, not having communion) in their homes as they ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising Elohim, enjoying the kindness of all the people. And many were added daily with those being saved.” Acts 2:41-47.
*Mikvah. Like so many things from the
Scripture, the church has changed and totally reversed almost everything.
Immersion (Mikvah) was always in flowing water. Also, when the person was ready
they bent forward and would be fully covered with the water. Never would they
ever go backwards, for this had always been part of an evil Satanic ritual.
Going forward is the same as the Jews still do this to this very day for this
is a sign of prayerful submission, as coming before a mighty King. But for us
this is so much more; it is doing away with the self and submitting ourselves
to YaHVaH Elohim in the Name of Yahushua the Messiah! Remember that the church
did NOT start “Baptism” as the “Mikvah” had been part
of Hebrew cleansing from sin, thus Yochanan –John calling people to
“repent and be immersed.” But this was a regular Hebrew practice
long before him and commenced in ancient of days, even as far back as the
wilderness to a degree.
