-Please Read this FIRST- On this site we prefer to use the actual Name of our loving Heavenly Father as it was written in the Word, and thus you will note that we will use the Four Letter “Memorial Name” of   - YHVH, which is pronounced as YaHVaH or YaHWaH. In addition we will also use our Heavenly Father’s attribute/title, which is Elohim rather than “God,” which sadly is the name of a pagan god. In addition we also love to use the actual and real Name of our beloved Messiah which is  - Yahushua or Yahshua in short, for this is our Saviours original Hebrew Name as given to Him at birth in Lukas - Luke 1:31. This was the only Name ever used when He was on the earth by His family, disciples and His followers OVER THE centuries, even until today! However, it was changed to a foreign name by the founder of the new “pagan church of Rome.” Occasionally, we may also use other Hebrew or Greek names as well as different words in our studies for certain common words used are from pagan backgrounds and thus are not suitable. All names will be translated when they are FIRST used in a study or at various times as needed for clarity. There is a full explanation of YHVH’s blessed “Memorial Name” as well as the wonderful blessed Name of our Messiah and Saviour, thus please read …The Memorial Name.”

The Prophetic Feasts of YHVH

With the Ministries Elder & Teacher

The three levels of learning & understanding of the blessed Word of YaHVaH Elohim (the Lord God):

When we read and study the blessed Scriptures, the Word of YHVH Elohim as a believer in Yahushua the Messiah, we should keep the following three steps always in mind for they are a valuable guide and it will certainly provide us with guidance and illuminate the sheer beauty and the fullness of YHVH’s most blessed Word.

1. Who was YHVH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, speaking to?

2. When was it said?

3. How was His Word understood at the time it was spoken/given?

I do believe that these three points are most relevant to our understanding of 1. What the Almighty is saying at the time – 2. As well as what it means to us today - and 3. Especially to you and me right now!

Firstfruits of the Harvest

One day after Unleavened Bread is Reshit Katzir – Firstfruits – a 1 day Feast

Nisan 16 = “Reshit Katzir

We have learned that on Nisan 15, the “Feast of Unleavened Bread” was a High Sabbath day and then on Nisan 16, the cereal harvest begins.

The first grain that would ripen, which was sown during winter was barley, and on the feast, known in Hebrew as “Reshit Katzir” or “Firstfruits of the Harvest,” the sheaf was reverently cut and sufficient barley grains would be removed to fill a bowl. The Firstfruits was then taken to the Temple and then given to the priest who would wave it as a wave offering before YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, and the “Counting of the Omer” would commence.

The last cereal to ripen was wheat and the Firstfruits from this harvest would be offered to YaHVaH Elohim seven weeks, or forty-nine days plus one day - fifty days later at “Shavout” that we know as the “Feast of Weeks.” I am well aware that some use Pentecost a name that I personally dislike!

“Reshit Katzir – Firstfruits” prophetically portrays the resurrection of Yahushua for He had risen from the dead and forty days later He would be restored to the presence of His Father, YaHVaH Elohim and be seated at His right hand side!

This Feast is also symbolic of the day when “the dead in Messiah will rise first” and then those “who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Master in air” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

The Omer, or the “sheaf of the firstfruits of the harvest,” was waved before Elohim and this is a wonderful picture, of Him who had risen long before the morning of the first day of the week, for the truth is that our beloved went into the “heart of the earth” and He remained there exactly “three days and three nights” or to be precise seventy-two hours! Thus that was on late on Wednesday just before the High Sabbath began for the feast of Unleavened Bread! Thus, He had already risen at the very same time He had been placed into the tomb on the 4th.day (Wednesday), being late on the Sabbath, or Saturday!

Thus, Messiah had been in the tomb on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights! In order to understand this, you will have to read the study “When was Messiah Resurrected?” A link is at the bottom of the page, and it will show you some blessed truth regarding this, 1. From Yahushua’s own Words. 2. And directly from THE WORD of YHVH Elohim! Sadly, teachers and pastors just do not wish to teach it, for they would have to return to keeping the true Sabbath and go against everything that they have been teaching for centuries, and surely, they just cannot do that?

Back to Firstfruits:

“And YHVH spoke to Moshe - Moses, saying, 'Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf (an omer) of the Firstfruits of your harvest to the priest. He shall wave the sheaf before YHVH, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it’” Vayikra – Leviticus 23:9-11.

As you will have noted from reading above, it was only when Israel would finally come out of the wilderness at the end of their 40 year journey and had entered into the land of their fathers that they were then permitted to celebrate this feast.

We may ask, why not celebrate it in the wilderness? That is quite simple, in the wilderness YaHVaH Elohim provided Israel with their sustenance, the manna etc. As Israel did not farm, in the wilderness it could not be a place of harvest where they were able to eat of the fruit of the land (Yahushua - Joshua 5:10-12). As we know, the sheaf or an omer in Scripture is often used to typify persons or a specific person.

For example Yoseyf - Joseph in a dream saw eleven sheaves bow down before his sheaf. The interpretation was clear, as it showed that his eleven brothers would bow down before him (Bereshis - Genesis 37:5-11), and we know from the Word that this was a dream that YaHVaH Elohim had given him.

In Tehillim - Psalm 126, being a prophetic Psalm, we find the “Song of degrees.” It speaks of him who sows in tears, but returns later rejoicing, bringing with him the sheaves of the harvest (verses 5 & 6). This prophetic Psalm may be applied to Messiah Yahushua, for He is Master of the harvest. In his first advent, He went forth weeping bearing precious seed. At the Second Coming, He will come with rejoicing at the time of the great harvest, bringing His sheaves with Him.

The single sheaf presented to YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, on Reshit Katzir and this prophetically speaks of Yahushua our Messiah, being the sheaf (person) of the Firstfruits (I Corinthians 15:20-23).

The Children of Israel clearly understood the meaning of this feast, related to the firstfruits of their labour. It spoke of the firstfruits of the harvest, and of the firstborn of both man and beast.

The firstfruits were considered the choicest. The firstfruits were Sanctified unto Elohim. The firstborn of both man and beast were sanctified and presented to YaHVaH, Shemot – Exodus 13:2 & 11-13, 22:29.

The firstfruits of the earth were to be presented to YaHVaH in praise and thanksgiving. At times they were also presented to the priests and the Levites Vayikra – Leviticus 19:23-25. Read also Nehemiah 10:34-39. All the firstfruits belonged to Elohim for they were Sanctified and to be presented to Him.

Throughout the Brit Chadashah - the New Covenant we discover how Yahushua fulfilled the prophecy of “Firstfruits!”

*Yahushua was the firstborn of Miriam, Mary. Mattityahu - Matthew 1:23-25.

*He is the first begotten of Elohim, the Father. Hebrews 1:6.

*He is the firstborn from the dead. Colossians 1:18.

*He is the firstfruits of the resurrected ones. I Corinthians 15:20 & 23.

Summary of Firstfruits

1… “Firstfruits” is always the day after “Unleavened Bread,” which is a High Sabbath day! Sadly, this High Sabbath is often confused by so many to be the weekly Seventh day Sabbath, but it is not.

In the year of Yahushua’s death and resurrection, it was celebrated on Friday Nisan 16. See the accompanying page with a Chart.

2… The feast portrays the risen Messiah.

3… Yahushua is the Firstfruits of them that slept.

“But now Messiah is risen from the dead, and has become the Firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.” 1 Corinthians 15:20.

4… Yahushua rose “three days and three nights” after His death, which was at around 3 pm on Wednesday the 14th.of Nisan.

For full details read my complete study detailing Messiah’s resurrection with Scriptural references as well as Yahushua’s own Word’s proving it, is online. The link is at the bottom of the page!

As Yahushua is the Firstfruits, this feast also represents the resurrection of the believer.

“But now Messiah is risen from the dead, and has become the Firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Messiah all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Messiah the Firstfruits, afterward those who are the Messiah’s at His coming.” 1 Corinthians 15:20-23.

“But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Yahushua died and rose again, even so Elohim will bring with Him those who sleep in Yahushua. For this we say to you by the Word of the Master, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Master will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Master Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of Elohim. And the dead in Messiah will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Master in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Master. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

Thus the good news is; Messiah was not the Firstfruit in the singular, but of the “Firstfruits” in the plural.

Therefore, all who “Love YaHVaH our Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Davarim - Deuteronomy 6:5 – Mattityahu - Matthew 22:37, who in repentance accepted Yahushua THE Messiah … “the Passover sacrificed for us,” will be part of the firstfruits!

Some Interesting Facts

Did you know that “Reshit Katzir” or the “Firstfruits” always takes place on the very same day in the solar/lunar calendar Nisan 16. Amazingly there are seven important historical events that took place on this day:

1… Noah's Ark rested safely on Mt. Ararat - Bereshis - Genesis 8:4.

2… On this day Ya’akov - Jacob, the 70 of Israel, entered Egypt - Shemos – Exodus 12:40-41.

3… It was the day that Moshe - Moses led the Israelites through the Red Sea - 430 years after they entered Egypt - Shemos – Exodus 3:18; 5:3.

4… It was the day that Israel entered and ate the fruits of the Promised Land - Yahushua – Joshua 5:10-12.

5… It was the day the walls of Jericho came crashing down - Yahushua – Joshua 5:13.

6… It was the day Hezekiah cleansed the Temple 800 years after entering the promised land - 2 Chronicles 29:1-28.

7… It was the day that Queen Esther saved the Jews from extermination - Magillah of Hadassah - Esther 3:12; 5:1.

Eight important Firstfruit events and that is one of the reasons why the number 8 is a symbol of the resurrection. All of these special days are all related to deliverances!

1… The first was deliverance from the judgement of the flood.

2… The second was deliverance from famine in Canaan.

3… The third was deliverance from slavery in Egypt.

4. The fourth was deliverance from being homeless.

5… The fifth was deliverance from a menacing obstacle that stood in Israel's path.

6… The sixth was deliverance from pollution caused by idolatry.

7… The seventh was deliverance from extermination, and …

8… The eighth was deliverance from death itself.

In this light we can see how very important this day really is. As you contemplate on this list you will see that it has a powerful application to our lives. YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, has performed eight supernatural deliverances or rescues to show us the eight regions in our lives that need His attention because we cannot deliver ourselves! I am sure that we can see a parallel with this and the eight days that are in the ninth “Feast of Chanukah,” a feast that is not to be found in the Tanach, Old Covenant, but you will find it in the Brit Chadashah, the New Covenant as Yahushua Himself attended this feast in the temple in Jerusalem! The Chanukah Menorah (candelabra) has eight branches, yet it does have one additional light and this one is movable and it is the most interesting one of all! See the “Chanukah” study that covers all this!

“Reshit Katzir” - “Firstfruits” is all about resurrection!

However, on “Reshit Katzir” - “Firstfruits” I believe that it is all about us waking up. Our beloved Saviour Yahushua is described by the Apostle Shaul of Tarsus - Paul as “the firstfruits of those that slept” (1 Corinthians 15:20). The reason a branch was waved by the ancient Israelites is because Yahushua is called the “branch of YaHVaH” (Yeshayahu - Isaiah 4:2, which was then presented to Elohim. And so, as it is written in the book of Proverbs, we are taught by this Law of Firstfruits to "honour YaHVaH with our substance, and with the firstfruits of all our increase" (Mashley Shlomo - Proverbs 3:9).

We are told that the first tenth of all we earn, the increase of your harvests belong to Elohim who prospered you with these things in the first place. But did you know that the Israelites were not even allowed to eat any of their newly harvested corn until Elohim’s part had been offered to Him from it (v.14), for we must always begin with Elohim in everything, for beloved, we must begin our lives with Him, begin every day with Him, begin every meal with Him, begin every affair of business with Him, and give our first financial increases to Him. That is what it means when Yahushua said: “Seek first the Kingdom of Elohim.” It is not just a mental exercise, but it affects every aspect of our living, for our living is His life.

In Shemos – Exodus 23:16 it states; “Celebrate the Feast of Harvest, (bikkurey) the firstfruits of your labours, which you have sown in the field.” There it uses the word “Bikkurey” and its Hebrew root for “firstfruits” is the same as that of “bekhor” – “firstborn.” The firstfruits are dedicated to Elohim because the first of everything, including the firstborn of man and beast, belong to our Heavenly Father. The name of this order is, “Chavurah Bekorot” meaning the “Assembly of the firstfruits.” For obviously the faithful in Him should wish to give everything to Him!

Yahushua was the Firstborn as He was Miriam’s – Mary’s firstborn and we who follow Messiah are also called the firstborn in Him, being the many brothers and sisters who are Messiah's devoted and obedient servants. The “Little Flock” in Messiah Yahushua are a consecrated and a dedicated priesthood of Elohim. All who are called into it are believers and will be part of the Royal Priesthood, but sadly, beloved not many are willing to make the sacrifices that membership entails. For the tragic truth is, the world has far to much to offer and there are far to many things that will pull lives back, for Satan’s servants are full of evil, treachery and lies and they will deceive you in regard to the blessed Scriptural truths, but this has been the case over the centuries! Remember what we have been told in the Word, that Satan is the god of the world.

Beloved, I pray that you will not be fooled and that you take a strong stand today and become part of the “Firstfruits” and live! Come and be part of the “Kingdom of YaHVaH Elohim!”

I believe the Word always says it best!

“Be imitators of Elohim, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Messiah loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to Elohim.” Ephesians 5:1-2.

HalleluYAH.

Now beloved, you have read this study and you must make a choice … will you be a part of the prophecy and take heed to the message found in this Feast and all the Feasts for that matter? I pray you will!

Remember in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 are the words the faithful were given to … “comfort one another with these words”. Read them again and GO and share our beloved Saviour with your loved ones and all who YaHVaH Elohim leads you in contact with!

*The next most wonderful feast has also been fulfilled, in Acts Chapter 4, and we can read all about that in the next study - “Shavout” - The “Feast of Weeks.

Yahushua said; “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the Prophets: They will all be taught by Elohim. Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from Him comes to Me. No one has seen the Father except the One who is from Elohim; only He has seen the Father. I tell you the truth he who believes has everlasting life.” Yochanan (John) 6:43-48.
