Does
our Heavenly Father Really Exist? And the Truth about Evolution!
Please Read this FIRST: On this site we
prefer to use the actual Name of our loving Heavenly Father as it was written
in the Word, and thus you
will note that we will use the Four Letter
“Memorial Name” of - YHVH, which is pronounced as YaHVaH or YaHWaH. In addition we will also use our
Heavenly Father’s attribute/title, which is Elohim rather than “God,” which
sadly is the name of a pagan god. In addition we also
love to use the actual and real Name of our beloved Messiah which is
- Yahushua or Yahshua in short, for this is our Saviours
original Hebrew Name as given to Him at birth in

Translation of the Hebrew verse above will be looked at a little later in the study.
If we look at the heading and the title above, you will note that in it I have posed a rather dramatic question – “Does our Heavenly Father Really Exist?” and Having asked this question there is a qualification, and what did I mean by that, does the Creator of Heaven and Earth, being YaHVaH Elohim (The LORD God) blessed be His Sanctified Name, really exist? There may be some wondering and think, “Why ask it, for I am a believer in the Saviour and our blessed Creator.”
If that is your response than I am delighted,
for you obviously have faith! However I have to be truthful, as I have
travelled the world for almost 39 years, I have spoken to countless of
thousands of “christians” who sadly had a rather mixed faith, and
there were those who believed in either none of, just a little, whilst others
believed in certain parts of the evolution ideology and they superimpose parts
of Scriptures to fit in, with their theory. I have been told by certain
pastors, although in different words, that; “Evolution and God really do
fit well together.” Therefore, it seems that the scientists have somehow
won their fight and convinced these men who obviously have ties with the enemy
HaSatan, Hebrew for the Adversary, or as we know him as ‘
However you will have seen the Hebrew above and what it says, but friends the Hebrew is very important, but I will cover this in full a little later for the Scriptural Hebrew says so much more than even the English, or any other language. But first we will look at those who so sadly live a life of unbelief and feel “that Elohim (God) is just not required” in their lives.
Part One - What is the Truth about Evolution?
There are some scientists who have acknowledged that they completely reject the existence of a divine Creator and deny it to enter their thinking. They will argue that the discipline of science is completely limited to material or the naturalistic arguments, that is, those that deny the very possibility of the supernatural.
“Even if the very data does points to an
intelligent designer,” immunologist
Biologist Richard Lewontin state in his book;
“We take the side of science in spite of the patent absurdity of some of
its constructs, in spite of the tolerance of the scientific community for
unsubstantiated just-so stories, because we have a prior commitment, a
commitment to materialism … we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the
door.” (“Billions and Billions of Demons,”
Supporters of evolution like to point out that
acceptance of the idea of a divine Creator requires faith in someone or
something we cannot see. Yet they are far from comfortable admitting that all
who believe that life evolved from inert matter also have faith in a theory
that cannot be proven, and is founded on far more fragile evidence than that
which supports the faith of believers in a Creator.
If we carefully look, we will discover that they are constantly sidestepping the issue of where matter and the universe actually originated, proponents of evolution begin with an existing universe operating according to precise and predictable laws. They recognize that those laws exist and function flawlessly. Yet they have not the slightest idea of its origin. Thus they choose to completely ignore the overpowering evidence that a great intelligence has to be behind these orderly and harmonious laws.
Our universe works like a massive clock, vast in scale and complexity, yet it is precise in its mechanics. Several decades of space exploration have shown the precision of the universe. It is precisely because of this predictability that NASA can rely on split-second timing when launching their astronauts into space and sending spacecraft to explore planets far away that it sometimes takes years to reach them, at speeds of thousands of kilometres per hour.
“My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble minds. That deeply emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of God” (quoted in The Quotable Einstein, p. 161).
Astronomers can predict with amazing exactness when a comet will return to our sky. Whilst scientists can send spacecraft and have them land on other planets or an orbit millions of kilometres away. The planets move in a predictable fashion, therefore here on earth we can chart the position of stars and planets for any given day, month and year, forward or backward, with incredible accuracy. Our calendars are useful only because of the universe’s immutable laws. We can rely on the timing and position of the heavenly bodies because of the laws that govern their relationship. In a sense, the story of mankind is a story of our discovery of more and more of the laws that govern the cosmos. For example, we experience the effects of the law of gravity. Although gravity is something we are unable to see, yet we know that it exists. We know it functions consistently. It is one of the fundamental laws of the universe. Similar laws govern every aspect of the universe laws of energy, motion, mass, matter and of course life itself.
Thus, what about evolution? The evolutionary theory asserts that life originated with a single cell and over countless eons of reproductive change gave rise to the astounding variety of life on earth. But, we should ask; “Where did the very first cell come from?” Materialism argues for “naturalistic abiogenesis,” that is, “life arose from nonliving matter through undirected chemical processes.” But that very concept is contrary to one of the most basic of all natural laws, the law of biogenesis. Throughout nature the law of biogenesis is abundantly evident: Life can come only from existing life, just as your life was conceived by living parents. Naturalistic evolutionists argue against the universality of biogenesis but it can produce no concrete evidence of “natural abiogenesis.”
Did life arise by chance, or is something
larger at work? There must be an explanation for the existence of everything.
The number, precision, and perfection of natural laws cannot be explained away
as an accident. Such reasoning is irrational. Common sense tells us that the
existence of an unimaginably magnificent universe structured on and sustained
by innumerable laws of physics requires the existence of a Creator of those
laws, a Designer of those structures. Some of the clearest evidence of
Elohim’s (God’s) existence is in the awesome presence of design in
the universe. Australian scientist
“Human beings have always been awestruck by the subtlety, majesty, and intricate organization of the physical world. The march of the heavenly bodies across the sky, the rhythms of the seasons, the pattern of a snowflake and the myriads of living creatures so well adapted to their environment, all these things seem too well arranged to be a mindless accident. There is a natural tendency to attribute the elaborate order of the universe to the purposeful workings of a Deity” (p. 194).
There was another writer who could see clear
proof of the creation all around him and this was
“The heavens declare the glory of Elohim; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth and their words to the end of the world.” Tehillim - Psalm 19:1-4.
Personally, I continue to be moved by the splendour of the night sky for it moves me and I know it will move all those who look up in awe in wonder and amazement for it is a spectacle. There are those who will have asked when a child, “what are those tiny specks of light sparkling in the darkness of space? How did they get there? Why are they there?” then as we became somewhat older, we may have asked, “What lies beyond them in the unimaginable reaches of the universe?” There is no doubt, but the grandeur of the shimmering heavens above raises many questions, not just about the universe but also about our part in it. The same is true of the intricate patterns in all things that are on earth, not just the world we see around us but there is that unseen world we can only be explored through a microscope.
A thousand years after King
“For since the creation of the world His (Elohim) invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made …” Romans 1:20.
The writers of the Tanach – the Old Covenant as well as the original writers of the Brit Chadashah – the New Covenant the creation gave a great deal of evidence of the great, all wise Creator, for they clearly understood that the wonders that we see around us shout the same message: Such an astonishing design demands a Master Designer! Whether we are moved by the power of the sea, the grandeur of a mountain range, the delicate beauty of the first spring flowers or the birth of a child, as we look at the world around us we naturally conclude: This is the handiwork of a great Designer. Creation reveals the Creator!
Theoretical physicist
“The intellectual beauty of the order
discovered by science is consistent with the physical world’s having
behind it the mind of the divine Creator … The finely tuned balance built
into the laws determining the very physical fabric of the universe is
consistent with its fruitful history being the expression of divine purpose.”
(Serious Talk - Science and Religion in Dialogue, 1995, p. viii).
“To a person who does not feel obliged to restrict his search to unintelligent causes, the straightforward conclusion is that many biochemical systems were designed. They were designed not by the laws of nature, not by chance and necessity; rather they were planned. The designer knew what the systems would look like when they were completed, then took steps to bring the systems about” (Darwin’s Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution, 1996, p. 193).
His conclusion was: “Life on earth at its most fundamental level, in its most critical components, is the product of intelligent design” (ibid.).
It is quite obvious, that the sheer precision
of our universe is certainly not the result of some accident. It is the product
of a meticulous Creator and Lawgiver, the universe’s
He determined that galaxies and clusters of
galaxies are moving away from each other in all directions. To envision this
revolutionary idea, imagine dots of ink on the surface of a balloon you are
blowing up. As you inflate the balloon, the spots move further from each other
in all directions.
“This was the greatest discovery of
twentieth-century science, and it confirmed what
In other words, what astronomers concluded they were seeing was the aftermath of an unimaginably powerful event that hurled matter and energy outward in all directions to form the known universe, thus that ridiculous name was created, “the big bang.” This would mean that the universe had to have a beginning, but what kind of a beginning?
“Few astronomers could have anticipated that this event, the sudden birth of the Universe would become a proven scientific fact, but observations of the heavens through telescopes have forced them into that conclusion” (The Enchanted Loom: Mind in the Universe, 1981, p. 15.
He also stated later:
“The seed of everything that has happened since in the Universe was planted in the first instant … It was literally the moment of creation” (Journey to the Stars: Space Exploration, Tomorrow and Beyond, 1989, p. 47.
Thus we can see that in a slow progression, Scientists were coming to a conclusion that was in fact more closely resembling what was recorded in the blessed Word of YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified be His Name, some 3,500 years ago, that the universe was not eternal and it had a beginning and they should have clearly recognized this. Even without their Big Bang model ideology, the scientific laws of thermodynamics still demand that the universe had a beginning. The first law states that the amount of mass-energy in the universe is constant. The second law states that the amount of energy available for work is running out. Taken together, they require that the universe had a beginning with much usable energy from which is now rapidly running down. In any case, the vast majority of scientists did finally come to accept a universe of finite age.
As long as scientists and philosophers assumed the universe had eternally existed, that it had no beginning and thus no need for a Creator to create it, they could easily leave Elohim out of the picture. Today only a few scientists persist in believing in an infinitely old earth and universe. There is simply too much evidence against it. The vast majority have come to acknowledge that we live in a universe that had a beginning because of what is the “First Cause” being creation! That admission raises uncomfortable questions for many scientists. What force, power or laws existed before the beginning of the universe to bring it into existence? What was the cause of its existence? Our rational minds tell us the universe could not have come from nothing. That defies not only logic but the laws of physics. What or who caused the universe? Why was it brought into being?
Friends, there is only one alternative to the Scriptural claim of supernatural creation by a supreme Intelligence. Atheists must, and they will argue that the entire universe came from nothing without a cause. They must insist on this unfounded, insupportable assertion because there is no other way to avoid the existence of a First Cause!
Yet their most basic assertion is fundamentally flawed. For the beginning of the universe has been proven to be a specific event. We all know from years and years of experience that one of the most fundamental truths is that events have causes. This fundamental truth underlies the laws that govern energy and matter. Nothing happens without a cause. The beginning of the universe is an event that had a specific cause.

“
“In the beginning Elohim
created the heavens and the earth”
As we look at this verse we may say, well that is a very simple statement, but does it answer the most basic and scientific of all questions: Where did we come from?
Friends, this verse describes the beginning of the “the heavens,” which of course also covers the greater universe. For we know that although there was some light upon the earth on the First day, but it is not explained what that light was, for the Sun and the Moon was not created until Day four!
“Then Elohim said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth’; and it was so. Then Elohim made two great lights: the greater light (the Sun) to rule the day, and the lesser light (the Moon) to rule the night. He made the stars also. Elohim set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And Elohim saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.” Bereshis - Genesis 1:14-19.
Thus only from day four did the 24-hour process and the seasons commence and that is an important fact to understand.
Thus the universe had a beginning caused by a timeless force outside of this physical universe. When matter came into existence, this was the beginning of time as we measure it. For the Scriptures clearly describes origin of the universe, as the first chapter of Bereshis - Genesis clearly answers the questions of who, what and when. The why will come a little later.
As a blessing to us the
“By faith (trusting what Elohim has revealed) we understand that the world was created by the Word of Elohim, so that what is seen was made out of things which do not appear.”
Two things should be noted in the explanation in the verses 1 & 14 to 19.
First; the universe did have a cause; it came from something. What it came from was not visible; that is, it was not pre-existing matter. Scripture tells us our universe had a cause and that could be a genuinely what some would call a scientific statement.
Second; it tells us that by faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the Word of YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name! But friends, this is not just blind faith. We are not asked to believe that the cosmos popped into existence without a cause and without a purpose. Rather, we are asked to believe that it began as the act of a Being who is timeless and powerful enough to bring the universe into existence.
This controversy leads to an important question. If the earth should be billions of years old, and if the Scriptures direct statements about creation are flawed, then how can you believe any of the Scriptures other claims?
Beloved, this question is valid and the controversy over it has set the stage for the “science-vs the faith approach” and it is one of today’s most worrying aspects within our educational systems, for sadly these days they tend to teach evolution, and they do this without any actual proof for the truth is, they still have not found that so called “missing link.”
But for the faithful beloved, how can we arm ourselves on how the Scriptural account adds up, and what it actually says?
Personally I use a version known as “the
Scriptures” it contains the most blessed names of our Heavenly Father and
Messiah in the original, being “YaHVaH” and “Yahushua,”
but in the Hebrew font as follows in the same order as shown before; -
. In addition it will use actual names such
as Yirmyahu for
Beloved names are most important in the Word of Elohim, for did Yahushua our beloved Saviour not tell us over and over again, and it was written frequently throughout the Word, but here is just one of these …
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes
in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he
will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My Name, that I
will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My
Name, I will do it.” Yochanan -
It has to be in His Name, not in any other
name and His Name is precious and must not be, as some claim
“translated.” Excuse me; you translate words, not names! Is it not
amazing that many vital Scriptural Hebrew names have been altered and worst
still the vast majority have ended up with pagan based names, including that of
the Greek god
However, when reading the Scriptures and if checking verses, it is worthwhile to use a copy of the “New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance,” one that has the Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Alternatively use an online “Bible Programme” I use several, one that has "Strongs" included as well as countless “Bible” versions, and this is Bible Soft or “PC Bible Study.”
Back to Chapter One and we now go to verse two:
“The earth was without form and void”
However, this verse can be also be translated as follows;
“the earth became without form and void.”
The Hebrew word הָיְתָה - “Haytah,” is mostly commonly translated by many simply as “was,” but above as we can see it also means “became.” - “Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words.” of 1985 it means “To be” or “Became.”
Thus, in other words, In the beginning, Elohim created the earth … stop, but then the Hebrew indicates that it became “without form, and void.” It can imply that something spoiled the original creation as described in Genesis 1:1 and before the seven days of creation to commence when Elohim commenced to restore order out of chaos, which would have happened during six days of restoration followed by a Sabbath rest day.
We must realize that Elohim is not the author
of confusion and chaos (see 1 Corinthians 14:33). Elohim is a being of
perfection, order and beauty. Chaos and disorder result from rejection of or
rebellion against Him. In Yehechel - Ezekiel 28:15 Elohim told the powerful
angelic being or
Other scriptures indicate that an original, earlier creation of chapter 1 verse 1 preceded the earth’s becoming in verse 2 “without form, and void” Hebrew ??? and בהו or “tohu and bohu” means a condition of chaotic disorder and confusion. Yeshayahu - Isaiah 45:18 advises us that Elohim …
“did not create it (the earth) in vain (tohu).”
The chaotic condition described in Bereshis - Genesis 1:2 came later. This chaos apparently resulted from the rebellion against Elohim by HaSatan, which is Hebrew meaning “the Adversary” together with a third of the angels, now known as demons (see Yeshayahu - Isaiah 14:12-15; Yehechel - Ezekiel 28:12-17 and Revelation 12:4). Later, after an unspecified interval, during six days followed by the seventh-day Sabbath, Elohim restored the earth to a beautiful habitation being His new creation for mankind. (Bereshis - Genesis 1; Shemos - Exodus 20:11).
In other words, a time gap seems to be indicated between the original creation as described in Bereshis - Genesis 1:1 and earth’s restoration starting in verse 3. This unspecified period could have encompassed a period of time, accounting for the possibility of the “deep time,” which geologists and other scientists seem to have discovered in the last two centuries.
Therefore the Scriptures itself, when correctly understood, offers a logical solution to this supposed creation enigma, having no inherent conflict with the possibility that the universe may be older that we are generally aware of. The Scriptures itself simply does not say how old the universe, or the earth, is. But it does plainly state …
“In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.” Bereshis - Genesis 1.
The universe is governed by laws, but scientists seem to be so sure about their personal ideologies of the origin of our universe. Far from that chaotic “Big Bang.”
We should always turn back to the fundamental questions: “Who created the original laws that govern matter and energy? Did they emerge by chance or accident? Or were they set in motion by a divine Creator?”
“For He commanded and they (the heavens) were created. He also established them forever and ever; He made a decree which shall not pass away” Tehillim - Psalm 148:4-6.
The Scriptures clearly explain that YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, created laws in the “heavens” to perpetually govern them.
“My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and My right hand spread out the heavens; when I summon them, they all stand up together.” Yeshayahu - Isaiah 48:13.
There are some astounding truths expressed in
these verses. But if we compare this to all other alternatives, the fact is
that this point of view as found in the Word is the only one that makes sense.
It is the only point of view that reconciles all difficulties. Note the
reaction that astronomer
“It took me a whole evening just to investigate the first chapter. Instead of another bizarre creation myth, here was a journal-like record of the earth’s initial conditions correctly described from the standpoint of astrophysics and geophysics followed by a summary of the sequence of changes through which Earth came to be inhabited by living things and ultimately by humans. The account was simple, elegant, and scientifically accurate. From what I understood to be the stated viewpoint of an observer on Earth’s surface, both the order and the description of creation events perfectly matched the established record of nature. I was amazed.”
Then in his book he stated;
“Few of us can venture outside on a
clear, dark night and not pause for a silent, reflective look at the stars. For
countless centuries people have felt a sense of wonder about the heavens. How
did our universe come into being? Has it always been here? Is our existence due
to random chance or supernatural design? Is God out there? If so, what is He
like? Traditionally, the church has answered such questions with Scripture,
while science has contributed theories and formulas of its own. Torn between a
deep respect for church doctrines and an intellectual need for answers that support
what their senses are telling them, many Christians have avoided such
discussions altogether. Actually, the two sides are no longer that far apart.
In The Creator and the Cosmos, astrophysicist
Many modern books by scientists are filled with the naturalistic evolutionary points of view and tragically most of modern education is grounded in it. But this is not the only viewpoint among academics, for here is a frank admission from The Columbia History of the World:
“Indeed, our best current knowledge, lacking the poetic magic of scripture, seems in a way less believable than the account in the Bible …” (John Garraty and Peter Gay, editors, 1972, p. 3).
Science journalist
“The actual trend in 20th-century cosmology … has been to turn from a view that was inconsistent with the Creator’s Bereshis - Genesis creation account to one that follows the old scenario very well. In fact … Hebrew revelation is the only correct source that has come to us from ancient times, and it fits the modern cosmological picture. In addition, in many cases, 20th-century archaeology and myth experts have been forced to turn from their previous views that treated the Bible as myth, to one as it being factual and true history.” (Show Me Elohim: What the Message From Space Is Telling Us About Elohim, 1997, preface).
Friends, sadly books on evolution are very popular, thus it is high time we gave the book of Bereshis - Genesis equal, if not top billing.
“The heavens are telling the glory of Elohim; and the firmament proclaims His handiwork.” Tehillim - Psalm 19:1.
“Each [scientific] advance brings new and unexpected discoveries, and challenges our minds with unusual and sometimes difficult concepts. But through it all runs the familiar thread of rationality and order … This cosmic order is underpinned by definite mathematical laws that interweave each other to form a subtle and harmonious unity. The laws are possessed of an elegant simplicity, and have often commended themselves to scientists on grounds of beauty alone” (The Mind of God, p. 21).
As
“Everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe, a spirit vastly superior to that of man” (quoted in The Quotable Einstein, p. 152).
Does the pre-existence of the elaborate,
intricate system of natural law in the universe mean there had to be a
Lawgiver? Or can science demonstrate that the origin of the universe is solely
the result of natural causes? Biochemist
“It is commonplace, almost banal, to say
that science has made great strides in understanding nature. The laws of
physics are now so well understood that space probes fly unerringly to
photograph worlds billions of miles from earth. Computers, telephones, electric
lights, and untold other examples testify to the mastery of science and
technology over the forces of nature … Yet understanding how something
works is not the same as understanding how it came to be. For example, the
motions of the planets in the solar system can be predicted with tremendous
accuracy; however, the origin of the solar system (the question of how the sun,
planets, and their moons formed in the first place) is still controversial.
Science may eventually solve the riddle. Still, the point remains that
understanding the origin of something is different from understanding its
day-today workings” (
Amazingly there are many intelligent people and scholars actually have a religious-like faith who continue to believe the complex laws relating the universe having come into existence purely by accident or chance. But I ask you; “is this view credible?” We know for certain that it is not supported with demonstrable evidence. So here is the real question: “Does it make sense to believe that a universe governed by a precise system of well-ordered laws came into existence all by it itself?
Part Two – Travelling at Great Speed
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim (God), and the Word was Elohim. He was in the beginning with Elohim. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.”
Yes you read right, He who is The Word, that became flesh and walked the earth as our Messiah and Saviour, Messiah Yahushua is One with YaHVaH Elohim, and One with the Creator … “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” Verse 3.
Therefore beloved, the truth is that we are all travelling very fast, but we simply do not know it, believe it we are hurtling through space on this place called Earth, which as the Universe was created by YaHVaH Elohim and this giant spacecraft Earth is moving at the incredible speed of 66,600 miles per hour, being faster than any aircraft to date! And we must not forget that at the same time, our spaceship is also spinning at a massive 1,000 miles per hour at the equator. Every year we complete an entire journey around the sun, being a voyage of more than half a billion miles!
What is so amazing beloved, that during our
incredible journey on this earth, speeding through space at such an amazing
pace, that we really feel absolutely no movement whatsoever. Whenever we drive
our cars, regardless of the speed you are at I know that I, and I am sure you
can sense the velocity when we can actually see the scenery fly by. I recall
when I was young and sailing from the Netherlands to New Zealand on a
relatively small Dutch liner the MS Sibajak, for when we were sailing across
the Atlantic the ship did pitch
somewhat, as she sailed at a speed of 17 knots. This was my very first long
line voyage on a ship and when we arrived at Willemstad, Curacao, we went
ashore and I, as did a good number of passengers felt quite strange, for we had
what was called “sea legs.” When we finally reached
Although we are continually travel at an
incredible speed through space and yet we feel absolutely nothing and that
means all being normal. When we end our life’s journey with an average
life span, we will have travelled around the sun at least a good 76 times and
completed a journey of more than 38 billion miles or 61.15 billion kilometres
that is the equivalent of travelling two times to
And that my dear friend is just one of the amazing features that we have been given by our Heavenly and loving Creator, the remarkable Spaceship Earth, but remember, that is only man’s name for it, for us it is just “the earth” and thus it is “our home!”
Having come to understand all this, we might ask ourselves, “what are some of the remarkable features of Spaceship Earth?” Well beloved, let us explore some of its characteristics in order that we can appreciate how carefully crafted it is. We can then ask, “Could all these precise conditions be just a lucky accident caused by a ‘Big-Bang’?” Hand-in-hand is another crucial question: “What is the ultimate purpose of our life’s journey through space?”
The transparent canopy covering the planet also houses a renewable supply of oxygen for human beings and animal life, and carbon dioxide and nitrogen for plants. It also provides the proper air pressure for living things, and the outer edge of this translucent shell is composed of an ozone layer that protects life from harmful ultraviolet rays.
Strange as it may sound, this canopy even comes equipped with a protective force field! It sounds like something out of the TV series Star Trek, but it is true. We have a magnetic field generated by the spinning iron core at the center of our planet that deflects damaging cosmic rays and deadly solar winds. Without these features, life on earth would not be possible. Last, but not least this marvellous canopy contains an automatically adjusting “curtain” to shade the terrestrial orb from too much light hitting our surface. This delicate shroud is formed by clouds, which acts as moving shades that cover some 60 percent of the earth’s surface at any single time.
Just as the blessed Word of YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, says;
“He hangs the earth on nothing” Iyov -Job 26:7.
And beloved, that “nothing” is outer space and the earth is able to “hang” suspended on nothing through the unseen force of “gravity.”
In this cockpit, although not seen, is the
equivalent of countless elaborate dials, all regulating an aspect of our
planets many wonderful features. Each dial has been carefully calibrated to
permit life to flourish on the planet. Thus, are you not able to comprehend
that there was a Great Engineer who to set up such an amazingly sophisticated
system, and if you just measure the precision of each setting, you know that it
is all, absolute perfection, beyond comprehension of mankind!
“I like to use the analogy of astronauts
landing on Mars and finding an enclosed biosphere, sort of like the domed
structure that was built in
As we continue this study, I am sure that we are getting a better glimpse of He who is our Marvellous Designer that Created the entire system, precisely as the blessed Scriptures states:
“YHVH, Who created the heavens, Who is Elohim, Who formed the earth and made it … Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited.” Yeshayahu - Isaiah 45:18.
Friends, there is no doubts about it, but our planet was not some lucky accident or an imaginary evolutionary event, but evidence very clearly reveals that it was carefully designed to be inhabited by mankind and all other forms of life that were “created” by our Heavenly Father, “who is Elohim - (God).”
The centripetal force caused by gravity keeps our planet in its orbit for when an object reaches a certain speed, and is spun by centripetal forces it remains in a stable circuit around its center. This is what the earth does when orbiting around the sun, and our planet’s distance from the sun, though varying slightly, making it perfect for life, as we are not that close to the sun which would see us all burn up, nor so far away, that we would freeze.
The earth travels through space at 66,600 miles an hour as it orbits the sun. That speed perfectly offsets the sun’s gravitational pull and keeps the earth’s orbit the perfect distance from the sun. Therefore, if the earth’s speed was less, it would be gradually pulled toward the sun, eventually scorching and extinguishing all life. Mercury, the planet that is the closest to the sun, has a daytime temperature of about 600 degrees Fahrenheit or 316 Celsius. On the other hand, if the earth’s speed were greater, it would in time move farther away from the sun to become a frozen wasteland like Pluto, with a temperature of about minus 300 degrees or minus 184 Celsius, and obviously this would also eliminate all life.
The second engine is deep inside the earth
itself. There, the fuel is decaying radioactive elements that heat the planet
and drive plate tectonics. Geologists
“a gigantic but delicately balanced heat
engine fuelled by radioactivity” (Earth, p. 4). “Not only does
plate tectonics help with the development of continents and mountains, which
prevent a water world,” adds astronomer
Surely, as
“YHVH by wisdom founded the earth; by
understanding He established the heavens.”
Thus in a way, our planet, which our Heavenly Father has given us, is a veritable Noah’s ark full of animals and plants whilst we are all travelling on our timeless journey through space. It is a self-contained unit with renewable resources that can last, that is, if we will only correctly take care of it, for potentially until Messiah comes again,
Beloved, we are so fortunate to live on this blessed earth! We do realise of course that man is slowly destroying all that is good on the earth, be it per pollution, as well as the never-ending evils of war and more war! It is for this reason, we have been told in the Word that after Messiah has come and at the due time Elohim will give the faithful in Him “a new heaven and a new earth”
“Now I (Yochanan –
Of course the atmosphere in our passenger cabin is beautifully tuned for life. And we should all know that there is not another planet in our solar system or in the entire universe that has anything remotely like our beloved planet Earth. For high in the atmosphere the ozone layer blocks cancer-causing radiation emanating from the sun. The atmosphere also shields us from meteors, as the majority overwhelming burn up long before they reach earth. Otherwise they would cause great damage and loss of life. Although we are aware that the Ozone layer has been damaged in some places, and the very place I live is a place were skin cancer is the worst in the world, all because of the damage mankind has been doing on earth!
Our atmosphere contains a mixture of gases in perfect proportions to sustain life. Oxygen makes up 21 percent of our air. Without oxygen, all animate life including all human life would die in minutes. But too much oxygen is toxic and makes combustible materials more flammable. If the proportion of oxygen in the air increased to only 24 percent, destructive fires would frequently break out and be much harder to bring under control. Objects around us could literally burst into flame.
Nitrogen, making up 78 percent of earth’s atmosphere, dilutes the oxygen and serves a vital function as a fertilizer for plants. Every day around our planet, millions of lightning bolts generated by thunderstorms combine some nitrogen with oxygen, creating compounds that are then washed to the earth by rain, where they can be utilized by plants.
Carbon dioxide makes up much of the rest of our atmosphere. Without it plant life would be impossible. Plants require carbon dioxide, which they take in while giving off oxygen. Animals and human beings are the opposite, breathing in oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide. Plant life sustains human and animal life and vice versa in a magnificent, precise, self-sustaining cycle.
Another condition that makes Spaceship Earth hospitable for life is its size, which determines its gravity and in turn affects its atmosphere. If the earth were only a little larger, making its gravity slightly stronger, hydrogen, a light gas, would be unable to escape the earth’s gravity and would collect in our atmosphere, making it inhospitable to life. Yet, if the earth were only slightly smaller, oxygen a necessary for life, would escape, and water would evaporate.
Therefore, if our planet was slightly larger or smaller, human life could not have existed here. But beloved that is not all, for even the thickness of the earth’s crust plays a part in regulating this blessed atmosphere of ours. If the earth’s crust was much thicker, oxygen would be caught below the surface as oxides. But a thinner crust would leave us susceptible to frequent earthquakes and devastating volcanoes that would cover our atmosphere with volcanic ash.
Thus, how important is the precise balance in
our atmosphere? Our neighbouring planet
“is a friendly place compared to Venus, where, from skies forty kilometres high a rain of concentrated sulphuric acid falls toward a surface that is as hot as boiling lead” (Elohim and the Astronomers, 1992, p. 117).
To keep the temperature comfortable for us on
the earth, our planet has to remain in orbit at just the perfect distance from
the sun, and it is designed with an optimum tilt of 23.5 degrees. As
“If the earth had been tilted as much as 45 degrees instead of what it is, temperate zones would have torrid zone heat in the summer and frigid zone cold in the winter. On the other hand, if the axis of the earth were vertical to the plane of its orbit, January and July would have the same climate and ice would accumulate until much of the continents would be ice-covered six months and flooded the other six months” (1972, pp. 27-28).
Astronomer
This means that a planet cannot be too close to its star or too far away. In the case of planet Earth, a change in the distance from the sun as small as 2 percent would rid the planet of all life . . .
“The rotation period of a life-supporting planet cannot be changed by more than a few percent. If the planet takes too long to rotate, temperature differences between day and night will be too great. On the other hand, if the planet rotates too rapidly, wind velocities will rise to catastrophic levels. A quiet day on Jupiter (rotation period of ten hours), for example, generates thousand mph winds . . .” (The Creator and the Cosmos, 2001, pp. 135-136).
In contrast to Jupiter’s 10-hour
rotation, our neighbouring planet
Tehillim - Psalm 104:24 says:

wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions.”
